Hellbound is a record on which BUCKCHERRY sounded the linear hard rock they excel at, restraining excess ornament. Rough guitar, a bouncing rhythm and Josh Todd’s provocative singing quickly light a fire within short songs. Even after a long career, the band’s impulse toward rock ’n’ roll has not dimmed in the least. On “5-4-3-2-1,” “So Hott,” “Hellbound” and “Gun,” while keeping a blues and punk feel, the choruses firmly stay in the ear.
