『Epic Narratives』は、海外ツアーや大型フェスで得た経験を、アルバム全体のスケール感へと反映させたBAND-MAIDの意欲作だ。幕開けの“Magie”から緊張と華やぎが同居し、KANAMIのギターはメロディと攻撃性を自在に往復する。MISAとAKANEのリズム隊は複雑な展開をしなやかに支え、SAIKIのヴォーカルは楽曲ごとの感情を明確に描き出す。Miku Kobatoのコーラスが加えるコントラストも、バンドの個性を揺るがない形で保っている。 “Shambles”“Protect You”の攻めから、The Warningを迎えた“SHOW THEM”へと続く流れには、日本のロック・バンドであると同時に、国際的なハードロック・アクトへ成長していく姿が刻まれている。“Forbidden tale”“Bestie”“The one”のようにドラマ性を強めた曲、“Letters to you”“Brightest star”のように歌を主役に据えた曲、そして“TAMAYA!”“Get to the top”の高揚まで、表情の幅が非常に広い。 技巧を随所に見せながらも中心には常に歌があり、長い物語を一枚で聴かせる構成力が光る。派手さと繊細さ、疾走と情感を無理なく束ねた本作は、BAND-MAIDのディスコグラフィでも最も完成度の高い長編ステートメントの一つと言える。

Epic Narratives turns BAND-MAID’s overseas touring and festival experience into album-scale drama. From the opening of “Magie,” tension and color coexist, and KANAMI’s guitar moves freely between melody and attack. MISA and AKANE lock complex passages into a flexible groove, SAIKI gives each song a clear emotional direction, and Miku Kobato’s voice adds the familiar contrast that keeps the band’s identity unmistakable. The run from “Shambles” and “Protect You” to “SHOW THEM,” a collaboration with The Warning, captures a group growing not only as a Japanese rock band but as an international hard-rock act. Dramatic songs such as “Forbidden tale,” “Bestie” and “The one,” melody-led pieces like “Letters to you” and “Brightest star,” and the lift of “TAMAYA!” and “Get to the top” give the album an unusually wide range. Technique appears throughout, yet the song always stays at the center, making this one of BAND-MAID’s most complete long-form statements.
