『The Showdown』は、ラッセル・アレンとヨルン・ランデという二つの強烈な歌声を軸に、ドラマティックなメロディック・メタルを組み立てた2010年11月5日発表の第3作だ。力強いリフ、厚い鍵盤、広がりのあるコーラスが、両者の歌の表情をさらに際立たせる。マグヌス・カールソンとハイメ・サラサールを擁する布陣はこれで三度目となり、本作をもってカールソン期の三部作が完結する。 デュエットと対話のように進むヴォーカルの応酬を、作品最大の聴きどころとして楽しめる。冒頭の表題曲は最も重い一撃で、続く“Judgement Day”はランデが一人で歌い切るメロディック・ロックの逸品。ビデオも作られた。“Never Again”は二人が滑らかに絡む完全なデュエット、“Turn All into Gold”はアレンが牽引し、カールソンのソロにはマルムスティーン的な色が濃い。録音は2009年から2010年にかけて、ギターと鍵盤はヘーオルのスタントギター・スタジオ、ドラムはルンドのレインゴールド、ランデの歌はノルウェーのメディアメイカーで別々に録られた。ピアノ主体のバラードと、よりドラマティックなサビの比重が増した一枚である。

The Showdown, released on 5 November 2010, is the third album, building dramatic melodic metal around the two fierce voices of Russell Allen and Jørn Lande. Powerful riffs, thick keyboards and wide choruses throw the expression of both singers into sharper relief. With Magnus Karlsson and Jaime Salazar in place for a third time, this completes the Karlsson-era trilogy. The vocal exchange, moving like a duet and a conversation at once, is the record's chief pleasure. The opening title track is its heaviest blow, and “Judgement Day” that follows — sung right through by Lande alone — is a gem of melodic rock, and got a video. “Never Again” is a seamless duet between the two, while “Turn All into Gold” is led by Allen, with a distinctly Malmsteen colour in Karlsson's solo. It was recorded across 2009 and 2010, the guitars and keys at Stuntguitar Studio in Höör, the drums at Reingold in Lund, and Lande's vocals separately at Mediamaker in Norway. A record on which piano-led ballads and more dramatic choruses take a larger share.
