Pinewood Smile

Pinewood Smile, the fifth album, came out worldwide on Cooking Vinyl on 6 October 2017 (COOKCD675), and Big Nothing / Ultra-Vybe issued the Japanese edition the same day (OTCD-6158). The master is Canary Dwarf's, and it was the band's first album on Cooking Vinyl. It is the first album on which Rufus Tiger Taylor plays drums throughout, and he shares the lead vocals with Justin Hawkins on two songs (Blabbermouth, Ultra-Vybe). Adrian Bushby, known for his work with Foo Fighters and Muse, produced it, with George Perks engineering. It was recorded in March 2017: by the studio diary Justin kept on the official site, nine songs were done by 14 March and everything was finished on 1 April. "Southern Trains" is Justin and Dan Hawkins's complaint about the Southern rail services they had to put up with while making the album, and "Solid Gold" takes aim at the music industry (Blabbermouth). "All The Pretty Girls" was presented as an autobiographical song about the attention a rock star gets from women, and its video was shot on the Cornish coast. On the day of release the band played and signed at HMV on Oxford Street in London, as the official site announced. It reached number 8 in Britain and number 1 on both the UK Rock & Metal and Independent albums charts, and 190 on the Billboard 200. The running order here is the original's as printed.
