Thickskin is the fourth album, released by SKID ROW with a new lineup after a long gap. After Sebastian Bach's departure, they welcomed new vocalist Johnny Solinger and made it with the lineup of Dave "Snake" Sabo and Scotti Hill (guitar), Rachel Bolan (bass) and Phil Varone (drums). Keeping the streetwise feel of old, they stepped toward a more contemporary hard rock.
The powerful opening of "New Generation" and the hook of "Ghost" convey the will of a restarted band. Thick riffs and catchiness coexist on songs like "Swallow Me (The Real You)" and "Mouth of Voodoo" too. Succeeding a charismatic predecessor was not easy, but Solinger opened a new chapter with his own voice. A record on which the band advanced into the next era without letting its name and character fade.
