The Electric Age

The Electric Age, the sixteenth album, came out on eOne Music in North America on 27 March 2012 as EOM-CD-2152 and on Nuclear Blast in Europe on the 30th, with Nippon Columbia issuing the Japanese edition (COCB-60049) on the 28th. It was recorded at D.D. Verni's own Gear Recording Studios in New Jersey and produced by the band, and Greg Reely mixed and mastered it. Ellsworth has said that the title names a modern world that runs on electricity, but can be taken in many ways, as an age of electric music or simply an exciting one. He wanted a strong flow from the opening "Come and Get It" through "Electric Rattlesnake" and on to the end. On the cover the band's mascot Chaly, the winged skull, is strapped into the electric chair. It sold 6,500 copies in its first week in the United States and entered the Billboard 200 at number 77, then the band's highest placing. In April 2013 a two-disc Tour Edition followed in Europe, adding four songs from a show in Sydney in September 2010. The running order here is the original's as printed.
