LANGUAGE
Whatcha Want is Michael Monroe's fifth solo album, released by SPV / Steamhammer on 21 January 2003, with the Japanese edition following a day later. Hanoi Rocks had reformed the previous year, and its first album back, Twelve Shots on the Rocks, appeared in the same year as this one.
Covers make up a large part of it: the record opens with Eddie & The Hot Rods' "Do Anything You Wanna Do" and closes on Leonard Cohen's "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye", with X-Ray Spex's "Identity" along the way. Monroe sings and plays saxophone, harmonica and piano, and takes some of the guitar and bass himself.
The band is Pink Gibson on guitar, Timpa Laine on bass and Lacu Lahtinen on drums — Lacu would go on to join the reformed Hanoi Rocks. Dave Lindholm guests on lead guitar.
