Nights Are So Long

Nights Are So Long is Michael Monroe's solo debut, released in 1987, two years after Hanoi Rocks broke up. It was recorded at North Lake Sound Studios in White Plains, New York, and released by Finland's Yahoo! Records. Monroe had announced his move to New York at the end of 1985 and put his first solo band together in 1986. Phil Grande plays guitar, Klyph Black bass and Peter Clemente drums, while Monroe sings and adds guitar, percussion, saxophone and harmonica. Monroe produced with Craig Goetsch, and Greg Calbi mastered. Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople guests on piano. Track nine is Johnny Thunders' "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory" and track three the Flamin' Groovies' "Shake Some Action" — on the first solo record, the taste in covers is already consistent. The Japanese edition came out on 5 September 1987 on H.I.T. Avenue Records.
