Maximum Overload

The sixth album came out in Europe on 18 August 2014 and in North America the next day, with Warner Music Japan issuing it first, on 13 August. Jens Bogren produced it, and it was the first time the band had left their own studio to work with an outside producer; recording began at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden in May 2013. Trivium's Matt Heafy added backing vocals to three songs, among them the first single, "The Game". It is the last album with drummer Dave Mackintosh, who left in June 2014, before its release, and was succeeded by Gee Anzalone. Herman Li has said the title came from a departure lounge full of people staring at screens. The ten songs end with Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire", the first cover the band ever released. The special edition adds five songs and a DVD carrying the making-of documentary A New Found Force and "Cry Thunder" from Loud Park 2012. The tour for this album took the band to Loud Park 14 in October 2014, a set that became their first live film, In the Line of Fire… Larger than Live.
