The Power Within

The fifth album came out first in Japan, on Victor on 11 April 2012, then in Britain on the 16th and North America on the 17th. ZP Theart had left in 2010 over musical differences, and this is the first record with Marc Hudson, whose arrival was announced in March 2011 after an audition. Hudson's first official show was opening for Iron Maiden in Belfast in August 2011, where the band debuted "Cry Thunder". The album was recorded across studios in California, London and the south of France, and in Europe it came out on Electric Generation Recordings, the label the band set up for themselves. It is also where the lyrics began to move away from fantasy towards other subjects. "Fallen World", at 220 beats per minute, was the fastest song the band had released at the time. The ten tracks end with an acoustic version of "Seasons". In 2018 it was reissued as Re-Powered Within, remixed and remastered by Damien Rainaud. In Japan, the band played Loud Park 12 on 27 October 2012, the year of its release.
