Reaching into Infinity

The seventh album was released on 19 May 2017 by earMUSIC and Metal Blade Records, with Warner Music Japan issuing it two days earlier, on the 17th, ahead of the rest of the world. It is the first studio album with drummer Gee Anzalone, and Jens Bogren produced it again after Maximum Overload. Most of the songs were written by Sam Totman and Frederic Leclercq, whose taste for thrash and death metal pushed the record beyond the band's usual power-metal mould. It was recorded between tour legs in several places, among them Fascination Street Studios in Sweden and the band's own studio in London. At eleven songs and about sixty-one minutes it is their longest studio album, and "The Edge of the World", at eleven minutes and three seconds, their longest song. It is the last album with keyboard player Vadim Pruzhanov, who did not tour this period and left in 2018. The special edition adds a DVD of the band's 2016 set at Woodstock Festival in Poland, and the Japanese pressing a bonus track, "Gloria". In June, the month after its release, the band toured Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo, and the Osaka and Tokyo shows sold out.
