Gravity

Gravity is the furthest this band has ever stepped from itself. Where the five albums before it were decided by guitar riffs, here synthesisers and programming come to the front and build the songs' frames. The run from "Leap of Faith" into "Over It" feels less like metalcore than like modern rock. It was also a turning point in the line-up. Jason Bowld had been playing every show since November 2015 as a stand-in, and on 4 December 2017 the band announced him as their permanent drummer. The same announcement said they had been working on new music since April and that the sixth album was ninety-nine per cent finished, which makes this the first record he helped write. Michael "Moose" Thomas, the drummer since the band began, left formally at that point. "Over It" was premiered on BBC Radio 1 on 1 April 2018 and the album followed worldwide on 29 June. Universal Music released the Japanese edition the same day as UICO-1302: "Breaking Out", "Crawling" and "Radioactive", three piano versions and a 2016 Brixton live recording take it to eighteen tracks, which is a different proposition from the international eleven.
