Liner Notes
Inquisition Symphony is a work on which APOCALYPTICA, using the cello’s low end and sharp attack, converted metal riffs into a different resonance. The sound made by strings alone is classical, yet the momentum of the playing is plenty heavy. It is the second album on which, to cover-centered content continuing from the debut, their first original songs were added.
Alongside Metallica songs like “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “Nothing Else Matters” and “One,” covers of Sepultura’s “Refuse/Resist” and Pantera’s “Domination” are included. Originals like “Harmageddon,” “Inquisition Symphony” and “Toreador” breathe the band’s full playing too. Using the strength of the originals, they make their own world with ensemble tension and lingering. It is a record that showed how a distinctive lineup widens the possibilities of metal.
