Bleed Out

『Bleed Out』は、WITHIN TEMPTATIONが持つシンフォニックな美しさに、モダン・メタルの重量と電子的な緊張感を重ねた作品だ。シャロン・デン・アデルの透明な歌声は、分厚いギターと重いビートの上でも埋もれず、むしろ楽曲の痛みや意志を際立たせている。社会的な不正への怒りを込めた、力強い一枚である。 “We Go to War”“Bleed Out”“Entertain You”といった楽曲では、サビは大きく、リフは低く、リズムは硬い。その対比によって、壮麗さと怒り、繊細さと強さが同居している。“Ritual”“Don't Pray for Me”“Unbroken”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。本作は数年をかけて断続的に制作されシングルを先行して発表するという形で世に送り出されており、“Wireless”“Worth Dying For”“Shed My Skin”のような楽曲にもバンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。怒りと闘志に満ちた本作は、ベテランとなってもなお衰えないバンドのエネルギーを示している。各曲は、ウクライナやイランの情勢など、現実の出来事に触発されている。バンドが築いてきた世界観を、よりヘヴィで直接的な言葉へと更新した一枚だ。

Bleed Out is a work on which WITHIN TEMPTATION layered the weight of modern metal and electronic tension onto their symphonic beauty. Sharon den Adel’s clear voice is not buried even over thick guitar and heavy beats, but rather brings out the songs’ pain and will. It is a powerful record charged with anger at social injustice. On “We Go to War,” “Bleed Out” and “Entertain You,” the choruses are large, the riffs low and the rhythm hard. Through that contrast, grandeur and anger, delicacy and strength coexist. Songs like “Ritual,” “Don't Pray for Me” and “Unbroken” breathe the band’s full playing too. Each song is inspired by real events, such as the situations in Ukraine and Iran. It is a record that updated the worldview the band has built into heavier, more direct words.
