Born Again

『Born Again』は、WARRANTが太いギター、軽快なビート、すぐに口ずさめるコーラスを軸に、ストレートなハード・ロックへ立ち返った作品だ。音には少し荒い手触りがあり、それが再始動したバンドの生々しい勢いを強めている。新ヴォーカリストのジェイミー・セント・ジェイムスを迎えて制作された一枚である。 “Devil's Juice”“Bourbon County Line”“Roller Coaster”といった楽曲では、曲は複雑な展開を求めず、リフとメロディで一気に引き込んでいく。“Angels”“Good Times”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。本作でバンドはジェイミー・セント・ジェイムスを新たなフロントマンに迎え心機一転の再出発を果たしており、“Dirty Jack”“Glimmer”“Velvet Noose”のような楽曲にもバンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。ベテランならではの安定感と、再始動の勢いが同居した一枚である。ブラック・ン・ブルー出身のジェイミーの歌声が、バンドに新たな活力を与えている。80年代から続くWARRANTらしい親しみやすさを、よりタフな質感で鳴らした一枚である。

Born Again is a work on which WARRANT, centered on thick guitar, light beats and instantly hummable choruses, returned to straightforward hard rock. There is a slightly rough feel to the sound, which strengthens the raw momentum of the restarted band. It is a record made welcoming new vocalist Jaime St. James. On “Devil's Juice,” “Bourbon County Line” and “Roller Coaster,” the songs do not seek complex development, drawing you in at a stroke with riffs and melody. Songs like “Angels” and “Good Times” breathe the band’s full playing too. The voice of Jaime, from Black ’n Blue, gives the band new vitality. It is a record that sounded the characteristically WARRANT accessibility continuing since the 1980s with a tougher texture.
