Choice of Weapon is a work on which THE CULT drew mature alternative hard rock through thick riffs, psychedelic reverb and distinctive vocals. The songs have roughness yet value sonic space and atmosphere. After a long career, the band’s expression has gained more depth and composure. On “Honey from a Knife,” “The Wolf,” “Lucifer” and “For the Animals,” blues, garage-rock and post-punk colors mix naturally, generating the band’s inherent allure.
