Eyes in the Night

『Eyes in the Night』は、2010年にドイツのアイアン・コデックスから出たデビュー作である。バンドはカナダのアルバータ州エドモントンで2007年に始まった。前年の2009年には同じレーベルからEP『Road Warrior』を出しており、本作はその延長線上にある。 彼らが背負っているのは、伝統的ヘヴィ・メタルの新しい波と呼ばれる潮流の先頭という位置だ。80年代のヘアメタルとハード・ロック、そして古典的なヘヴィ・メタルを混ぜる。後年、彼ら自身の音を評した言葉に「トト対スレイヤー」という表現があり、これが的確すぎるほど的確である。ここから彼らは、ヨーロッパと北米を何度も回り、10年余りで千本近い公演を積むことになる。

Eyes in the Night is the debut, released in 2010 by the German label Iron Kodex. The band had started in 2007 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and had put out the Road Warrior EP on the same label the year before; this record follows straight on from it. What they carry is a position at the front of what gets called the new wave of traditional heavy metal — 1980s hair metal and hard rock mixed into classic heavy metal. A description of their sound that circulated later, "Toto vs Slayer," is almost too accurate. From here they would tour Europe and North America repeatedly and stack up close to a thousand shows in a little over a decade.
