Immortal

『Immortal』は、SHAMANが複雑なリズム、華やかな鍵盤、強いメロディを組み合わせた第3作だ。2006年10月にアンドレ・マトスとマリウッチ兄弟が去り、バンド名を保有していたヒカルド・コンフェソーリが新編成で再始動した。カルマ出身のチアゴ・ビアンキ(ヴォーカル)、レオ・マンシーニ(ギター)、フェルナンド・ケサダ(ベース)を迎え、2007年にイタリアのスカーレット・レコードから発表された。SHAAMANとしていた名義もSHAMANへ戻っている。オリジナル・メンバーはコンフェソーリただ一人となったが、それでもバンドの歩みが止まることはなかったのである。 新しいヴォーカルを中心にした音は力強く、ブラジルらしい熱とヨーロピアン・メタルの構築性を併せ持つ。序奏“Renovatti”から“Inside Chains”“Tribal by Blood”へ勢いよく進み、表題曲や“One Life”を経て、速い曲の高揚と叙情的な場面の対比が、アルバム全体に豊かな起伏を生む。ビアンキの伸びやかな声とマンシーニの切れ味あるリードが、新体制の説得力を担っている。大きな変化の時期を、前向きな推進力へと変えた一枚である。

Immortal is the third album, combining complex rhythms, brilliant keyboards and strong melody. In October 2006 Andre Matos and the Mariutti brothers left, and Ricardo Confessori — who owned the band name — restarted with a new lineup. Bringing in Thiago Bianchi (vocals, from Karma), Léo Mancini (guitar) and Fernando Quesada (bass), it was released in 2007 on Italy's Scarlet Records. The name, which had been SHAAMAN, reverted to SHAMAN. Confessori was now the only original member, yet the band did not stop. Built around a new voice, the sound is forceful, holding both Brazilian heat and European metal's structure. From the intro “Renovatti” it moves briskly into “Inside Chains” and “Tribal by Blood,” and through the title track and “One Life,” the contrast of fast-song lift and lyrical passages creates rich undulation across the album. Bianchi's soaring voice and Mancini's sharp leads carry the new lineup's conviction. A record that turned a period of great change into forward momentum.
