『From Chaos to Eternity』は、RHAPSODY OF FIREが、オーケストラ、荘厳な合唱、スピード・メタル、そして語りを重ね合わせ、長年にわたって紡いできた、壮大なファンタジー世界の物語を、大きなスケールで、見事に締めくくった作品だ。ルカ・トゥリッリと、アレックス・スタロポリの、卓越した構築力が、各楽曲に、映画的で壮大な景色を、豊かに与えている。本作は、共同創設者であった、ルカ・トゥリッリが在籍した、最後のスタジオ作となった、極めて重要な一枚である。「ダーク・シークレット・サーガ」の、その完結編だ。 冒頭“Ad Infinitum”から、劇的な表題曲“From Chaos to Eternity”、そして、イタリア語の“Tempesta di Fuoco”のような曲まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。“Ghosts of Forgotten Worlds”、そして、19分を超える組曲的大作“Aeons of Raging Darkness”のような曲も、作品の壮大な世界観を伝えている。“Anima Perduta”のような曲も、その充実を伝えている。 疾走曲の、圧倒的な高揚感と、壮大なミドルテンポとが、交互に現れることで、その物語の、感動的な終幕へと向けた、確かな重みを、力強く作り出している一枚だ。シンフォニック・パワー・メタルの、その王道的な壮麗さを、存分に味わうことができる。一つの大きな時代を締めくくった、力強く聴き応えのある傑作と言える。バンドの一つの集大成だ。

From Chaos to Eternity is a work on which Rhapsody of Fire, layering orchestra, solemn choirs, speed metal and narration, splendidly caps on a grand scale the story of the grand fantasy world it had spun over long years. Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli’s outstanding construction richly gives each song cinematic, grand scenery. This work became the last studio work the co-founder guitarist Luca Turilli belonged — an extremely important record. The conclusion of the “Dark Secret Saga.” From the opener “Ad Infinitum” and the dramatic title track “From Chaos to Eternity” to a cut like the Italian “Tempesta di Fuoco,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “Ghosts of Forgotten Worlds” and the over-nineteen-minute suite-like epic “Aeons of Raging Darkness” convey the work’s grand world, and a cut like “Anima Perduta” also conveys its fullness. A record on which, by speeding songs’ overwhelming lift and grand mid-tempo appearing in turn, it powerfully creates a sure weight toward the story’s moving finale. You can fully savor the straight-path grandeur of symphonic power metal. A powerful, engaging masterpiece that capped one great era — one culmination of the band.
