『Dawn of Victory』は、RHAPSODY OF FIRE(当時のバンド名はラプソディー)が、映画的で壮麗なオーケストレーションと、高速のパワー・メタルとを、極限まで壮大に押し進めた、充実の第3作だ。ルカ・トゥリッリと、アレックス・スタロポリの作り出す、美しく勇壮な旋律は、力強いコーラスと、語りとを伴いながら、まるで大河のように、雄大に展開していく。ファビオ・リオーネの、圧倒的な歌声が、その壮大な物語世界の、確かな中心を担っている。前2作よりも、よりストレートで力強い一枚だ。 冒頭のイントロから、疾走する代表曲“Dawn of Victory”へと至る展開、そして“Triumph for My Magic Steel”のドラマ性、さらに“Dargor, Shadowlord of the Black Mountain”のような曲まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。“The Village of Dwarves”“The Bloody Rage of the Titans”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。とりわけ“Dawn of Victory”は、ライヴでの定番曲となった。 シンフォニック・パワー・メタルの、その絢爛豪華な魅力を、これ以上なく徹底して追求した一枚だ。過剰とも言えるほどの、その壮大さを、確かな魅力へと変えてしまう、バンドの卓越した力量が、最も分かりやすい形で表れている。「エメラルド・ソード・サーガ」の、その充実期を象徴する、力強く聴き応えのある傑作と言える。ファン必聴の一枚だ。

Dawn of Victory is a fulfilling third album on which Rhapsody of Fire (then named Rhapsody) pushed cinematic, grand orchestration and high-speed power metal to grandiose limits. The beautiful, valiant melody Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli create develops majestically like a great river, accompanied by powerful choruses and narration. Fabio Lione’s overwhelming voice carries the sure center of that grand narrative world. A more straight, powerful record than the previous two. From the development from the opening intro to the speeding signature “Dawn of Victory” and the drama of “Triumph for My Magic Steel” to a cut like “Dargor, Shadowlord of the Black Mountain,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “The Village of Dwarves” and “The Bloody Rage of the Titans” convey the work’s fullness. In particular, “Dawn of Victory” became a live staple. A record that pursued the gorgeous, splendid appeal of symphonic power metal as thoroughly as possible. The band’s outstanding skill of turning even arguably excessive grandeur into a sure appeal appears in its clearest form. A powerful, engaging masterpiece symbolizing the fulfilling period of the “Emerald Sword Saga” — an essential record for fans.
