EVOLVE

『EVOLVE』は、結成5周年と日本武道館公演を目前にしたNEMOPHILAが、それまで育ててきた要素を高密度で再構築した3rdアルバムである。作品名が示す通り、単純な路線変更ではなく、ラウドロック、ヘヴィメタル、グランジ、メタルコア、ポップな歌心を曲ごとに進化させている。SAKIと葉月のツイン・ギターは、速弾きやハーモニーを誇示するだけでなく、音域と質感を分けながら立体的な壁を形成。ハラグチサンとむらたたむは複雑な展開を強いグルーヴでつなぎ、mayuはシャウトから大きなバラード表現まで自在に行き来する。 “Enigma”と“RISE”はアルバムの上昇感を象徴し、“OSKR”では遊び心と攻撃性が衝突する。“AMA-TE-RAS”の重厚なドラマ、“ODYSSEY”の広がり、“Night Flight”の浮遊感、“Hammer Down”の正面突破が並ぶことで、バンドの振幅が明確になる。終曲“YELL ～軌跡～”は歩んできた時間を肯定し、武道館へ向かう物語を感情的に結ぶ。第1期NEMOPHILAの集大成としても、新たな変化を予告する作品としても意味の大きい一枚だ。緻密さと即効性を両立した構成は、ライヴでの爆発力を想定しながら、アルバム単位で聴くドラマも損なっていない。

EVOLVE arrived as NEMOPHILA approached its fifth anniversary and first Nippon Budokan concert, compressing the band’s accumulated strengths into a dense third album. Its title describes development rather than a simple change of direction. Loud rock, heavy metal, grunge, metalcore and pop-minded melody are allowed to evolve differently from song to song. Saki and Hazuki use the twin-guitar format not only for speed and harmony, but to divide register and texture into a three-dimensional wall. Haraguchi-san and Tamu Murata connect complicated transitions with a strong physical groove, and Mayu moves from screams to broad, emotionally open singing. “Enigma” and “RISE” embody the album’s upward momentum, while “OSKR” collides playful character with aggression. “AMA-TE-RAS” brings dramatic weight, “ODYSSEY” expands the horizon, “Night Flight” floats, and “Hammer Down” attacks directly. The closing “YELL” looks back on the path already traveled and links the record emotionally to the Budokan milestone. EVOLVE stands as both a culmination of NEMOPHILA’s original five-member era and a record that, in hindsight, already contains the pressure and possibility of the transformation that followed.
