Hunting Shadows is a fulfilling work on which Last Autumn's Dream combines warm, beautiful keyboards, smooth guitar and sweet singing tinged with deep sorrow. The songs, rather than showing off flashy technique, value above all beautiful melody remaining naturally and deeply in the listener’s heart. A record filled throughout with the refined merits particular to Nordic AOR. Content where Mikael Erlandsson’s soaring voice shines. From the powerful drive of the opener “Strange Operation” and the drama of “Rainbow Sky” to a cut like “My Alibi,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “Lost in Moscow” and “I’m Not Supposed to Love You Anymore” convey the work’s fullness. Warm keyboards richly color that lyrical world. A record on which the refreshing quality of up-tempo rock numbers and the sure sorrow of ballads coexist extremely naturally in the same air, and a calm, beautiful unity hangs over the whole album.
