『Firestar』は、IRON SAVIORが得意とする、宇宙規模の壮大な物語性と、一直線に走り抜ける、力強いジャーマン・パワー・メタルとを、改めて力強く再点火した作品だ。分厚く重ねられたギター、明確で力強いリズム、そして前へと押し出す勇壮なコーラスとが、タイトルどおりの、燃えるような、確かな推進力を生み出している。ベテランならではの、貫禄と充実感に満ちた一枚である。 冒頭“The Titan”の力強い推進力、“Curse of the Machinery”のドラマ性、そして表題曲“Firestar”まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。“In the Realm of Heavy Metal”“Through the Fires of Hell”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。複雑さで、ただ圧倒するのではなく、あくまで、曲の持つ、力強い核を、すぐに聴き手へと届けることを、何よりも優先している。 だからこそ、疾走する速い曲の、あの爽快さも、ミドル・テンポの曲の、確かな重さも、そして歌メロの、ヒロイックな高揚感も、すべてが、まっすぐに、力強く響いてくる一枚だ。ピート・シールクの声とギターが導く、SF的な壮大な世界観と、人間味あふれるメロディとが、IRON SAVIORらしい、熱い魅力を、最後まで、しっかりと保っている。円熟したパワー・メタルの、力強く聴き応えのある充実作と言える。

Firestar is a work on which Iron Savior again powerfully reignites the grand, cosmic-scale narrative it does well and powerful, straight-running German power metal. Thickly layered guitar, clear, powerful rhythm and forward-pushing valiant choruses generate a burning, sure drive, true to the title. A record full of the dignity and fullness particular to veterans. From the powerful drive of the opener “The Titan” and the drama of “Curse of the Machinery” to the title track “Firestar,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “In the Realm of Heavy Metal” and “Through the Fires of Hell” convey the work’s fullness. Rather than merely overwhelming with complexity, it prioritizes above all delivering the songs’ powerful core to the listener right away. That is precisely why the exhilaration of speeding fast songs, the sure weight of mid-tempo songs and the heroic lift of the vocal melody all resonate straight and powerfully.
