Beg for It is a work on which HARDCORE SUPERSTAR bound glam flamboyance and rough hard rock in a dangerous balance. Gritty riffs and sweet hooks collide, giving the songs a distinctive addictiveness. It is also a record made welcoming new guitarist Vic Zino. On “Beg for It,” “Into Debauchery” and “Nervous Breakdown,” the choruses are surprisingly accessible while wearing a decadent atmosphere. Songs like “Shades of Grey,” “Spit It Out” and “Innocent Boy” breathe the band’s full playing too. That contrast makes the band’s sleaze rock something more than mere imitation. Even under the new lineup, the band’s personality did not waver but rather gained more polish — a full record.
