『Vetelgyus』は、GALNERYUSが、超絶的なギターとキーボード、伸びやかなハイ・ヴォーカル、そして緻密なリズムを、総動員した、充実の作品だ。前作の大作志向を経て、その卓越した演奏力を、より力強く、そして凝縮させている。楽曲は、確かな疾走感を備えながらも、その歌メロの、ドラマ性が非常に強く、技術の、あの高さを、そのまま、深い感情の高揚へと、力強く変えていく。小野正利(Masatoshi Ono)の、圧巻のハイトーンが光る一枚である。 冒頭のインストゥルメンタルから、疾走する“Redstar Rising”へと至る展開、そして“Endless Story”のドラマ性、さらに“There's No Escape”のような曲まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。“Ultimatum”、そして“The Judgement Day”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。Syuの、ネオクラシカルで超絶的なギターが、全編で力強く冴え渡っている。 複雑で凝った展開の中でも、その覚えやすいフックを、決して見失うことのない、卓越した構成力が、際立っている一枚だ。日本のパワー・メタルが持つ、あの華やかさと、確かな精度とを、極めて高いレベルで示している。GALNERYUSの、その円熟した実力を、改めて力強く示した、聴き応えのある傑作と言える。バンドの安定した実力が光る一枚だ。

Vetelgyus is a fulfilling work on which Galneryus mobilizes virtuosic guitar and keyboards, soaring high vocals and precise rhythm. After the previous work’s epic ambition, it makes its outstanding playing more powerful and condensed. The songs, while having sure speed, have very strong vocal-melody drama, powerfully turning the height of the technique straight into deep emotional lift. A record where Masatoshi Ono’s overwhelming high range shines. From the development from the opening instrumental to the speeding “Redstar Rising” and the drama of “Endless Story” to a cut like “There’s No Escape,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “Ultimatum” and “The Judgement Day” convey the work’s fullness. Syu’s neoclassical, virtuosic guitar is powerfully in sharp form throughout. A record on which the outstanding construction, never losing memorable hooks even within complex, elaborate development, stands out. It shows the splendor and sure precision of Japanese power metal at an extremely high level. An engaging masterpiece that again powerfully showed Galneryus’s mature ability — a record where the band’s steady ability shines.
