War Is the Answer is the second album on which Five Finger Death Punch solidified arena-scale heaviness and made a major leap. With Kevin Churko — who had worked with Ozzy Osbourne — as producer, it sharply polishes huge grooves, direct choruses and Ivan Moody's powerful singing. Reaching No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and certified platinum, it thrust the band to top-act status. Selling about 44,000 copies in its first week and named Metal Hammer's album of the week, it is an important, critically well-received work. From the catchy aggression of the single "Hard to See" and the solidarity-filled chorus of "No One Gets Left Behind" to the cover of Bad Company's "Bad Company" (itself certified platinum), a wide range of songs line up. On high-impact numbers like "Dying Breed" and "Bulletproof," Moody's switching between screams and singing gains still more conviction. Keeping the debut's rawness while greatly refining production and songwriting, it is the album that made the Five Finger Death Punch name secure.
