『American Capitalist』は、重低音リフと直截なフックを徹底し、FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCHのモダン・メタルをさらに強化した第3作だ。マット・スネルの脱退を受け、クリス・ケイルがベースに加入した最初のアルバムでもある。PANTERA以降のグルーヴ・メタルを軸に、アリーナ映えする大きなコーラスと、時に内省的なバラードを織り交ぜ、バンドの表現の幅を大きく広げている。ビルボード200で3位に達し、プラチナ認定を獲得した。また2012年にはレディオコントラバンド・ロック・ラジオ・アワードで年間最優秀アルバムに選ばれた。 先行シングル“Under and Over It”はバンド初のホット100入りを果たし、“Coming Down”の陰影あるメロディ、“Remember Everything”の感情的な高まりまで、シングル級の楽曲が惜しみなく並ぶ。表題曲“American Capitalist”や“Menace”の攻撃性、“100 Ways to Hate”の直撃力まで、緩急の付いた構成が全編を引き締めている。攻撃性とキャッチーさ、そして重さと歌心を高い次元で両立させた、円熟期への足掛かりとなる充実作である。

American Capitalist is the third album on which Five Finger Death Punch, thoroughly committing to low-end riffs and direct hooks, further strengthened their modern metal. Following Matt Snell's departure, it is also the first album with Chris Kael on bass. Built on post-Pantera groove metal, it interweaves arena-ready big choruses with occasionally introspective ballads, greatly widening the band's expressive range. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. In 2012 it was also named Album of the Year at the RadioContraband Rock Radio Awards. The lead single "Under and Over It" gave the band their first Billboard Hot 100 entry, and from the shadowed melody of "Coming Down" to the emotional swell of "Remember Everything," single-caliber songs line up without restraint. From the aggression of the title track "American Capitalist" and "Menace" to the direct impact of "100 Ways to Hate," a dynamically shifting structure tightens the whole record. Balancing aggression with catchiness, and weight with melody at a high level, it is an accomplished work that became a foothold toward their maturity.
