O2 is a work on which FIREHOUSE, centered on C.J. Snare’s soaring voice, bound lyrical ballads and powerful rock songs. The guitar does not come out too flashily, devoting itself to the role of keeping the songs’ outline thick. Even amid the change of the times, it is a record that held to a stance centered on melodic sense. On “Jumpin',” “I'd Rather Be Making Love” and “Unbelievable,” even amid changing trends, the stance centered on melodic sense does not waver. Songs like “The Dark” and “Loving You Is Paradise” breathe the band’s full playing too. Rather than chasing flashiness, they value the beauty of the melody. The cohesion as sincere melodic rock is the appeal of this work. It is a flavorful record that shows the stability of a mature band.
