Let There Be Blood is an ambitious reconstruction-type work on which Exodus wholly re-recorded every song of the legendary debut Bonded by Blood through the current band’s playing and the latest production. While respecting the historic significance and rough appeal of the original version, it newly revives the many classics with the current, tougher members and evolved recording technology, different from back then. With Rob Dukes’s vocals, the old songs are powerfully reinterpreted. Rather than merely tracing past classics, by carefully re-illuminating them with heavier, sharper sound pressure and a refined arrangement sense at the time of recording, Exodus’s sure change and evolution can be clearly confirmed. More than subtle differences of tempo and key, the current figure of the band strongly appears precisely in the details of the playing — the guitar’s more modern distance and how the rhythm sinks deeply. For fans who deeply know the original version, noting the differences of interpretation becomes a great pleasure.
