Sunrise in Eden

『Sunrise in Eden』は、オーストリア出身のEDENBRIDGEが、シンフォニック・メタルの幻想美を掲げて放ったデビュー作だ。作曲を手がけるランヴァルの重層的なアレンジと、サビーネ・エデルスバッハーの柔らかく澄んだ歌声が、早くもバンドの個性を明確に示している。鍵盤とギターが作る広がりを丁寧に導きながら、速い曲でもメロディの優美さが常に中心に残っている。 “Sunrise in Eden”“Cheyenne Spirit”“Holy Fire”“Forever Shine On”といった楽曲では、シンフォニックな装飾とメタルの推進力が理想的に結び付いている。“Wings of the Wind”“My Last Step Beyond”のような楽曲にも、バンドの確かなメロディ・センスが息づいている。“In the Rain”“Take Me Back”“Midnight at Noon”のような楽曲にも、優美なメロディが息づいている。バンド名の由来ともなった「エデン」の楽園的なイメージは彼らの幻想的な音楽性を象徴しており、エデルスバッハーの表現力ある歌声が早くもバンドの大きな魅力となっている。ジャンルの定型を使いながらも、そこには落ち着いた品の良さがある。バンドの向かうべき方向性を最初から明確に示した本作は、その後の飛躍を予感させる、充実したデビュー作である。

Sunrise in Eden is the debut on which Austrian band EDENBRIDGE set out under the banner of symphonic metal’s fantastical beauty. The layered arrangement of composer Lanvall and the soft, clear voice of Sabine Edelsbacher already show the band’s identity clearly. Carefully guiding the expanse made by keyboards and guitar, the grace of the melody always remains at the center even in fast songs. On “Sunrise in Eden,” “Cheyenne Spirit,” “Holy Fire” and “Forever Shine On,” symphonic ornament and metal drive join ideally. Songs like “Wings of the Wind” and “My Last Step Beyond” breathe the band’s firm melodic sense too. Even while using the templates of the genre, there is a settled refinement. Clearly showing the direction the band should head from the very start, it is a full debut that foreshadows the later leap.
