Shangri-La

『Shangri-La』は、EDENBRIDGEがサビーネ・エデルスバッハーの透明感ある歌声と、ランヴァルの壮麗なアレンジを軸に、幻想世界を描いた作品だ。シンフォニックな広がり、メタルとしての推進力、叙情的なメロディが重なり合い、長尺曲では特にドラマ性が強く立ち上がっている。前作までに築いた作風を、さらに深化させた一枚である。 “At First Light”“The Call of Eden”“Arcadia (The Great Escape)”“The Road to Shangri-La”といった楽曲では、美しく整えられた音の中に、冒険譚のような高揚感がある。組曲“The Bonding (Part 2)”では、過去の楽曲との繋がりを感じさせる壮大な展開が繰り広げられる。“Hall of Shame”“Savage Land”“Freedom Is a Roof Made of Stars”のような楽曲にも、幻想的な美しさが息づいている。理想郷「シャングリラ」をテーマにした本作は、バンドの幻想的な世界観の集大成とも言える充実した内容だ。シンフォニックな広がりと叙情的なメロディが見事に融合し、作品には確かな物語性が宿っている。美しく整えられた音の中に豊かなドラマを込めた本作は、バンドの充実を伝える、聴き応えのある一枚である。

Shangri-La is a work on which EDENBRIDGE drew a fantastical world, centered on the clear voice of Sabine Edelsbacher and Lanvall’s grand arrangement. Symphonic expanse, metal drive and lyrical melody overlap, and in the long songs the drama rises especially strongly. It is a record that further deepened the style built up to the previous album. On “At First Light,” “The Call of Eden,” “Arcadia (The Great Escape)” and “The Road to Shangri-La,” within the beautifully ordered sound there is the elation of an adventure tale. In the suite “The Bonding (Part 2),” a grand development unfolds that evokes a connection with past songs. Symphonic expanse and lyrical melody fuse splendidly, and a firm narrative quality dwells in the work. Placing rich drama within a beautifully ordered sound, it is a rewarding record conveying the band’s fullness.
