Titanic Mass

『Titanic Mass』は、転換作『Renatus』で確立したモダンなサウンドをさらに推し進めた第5作で、Spinefarm Recordsからの最後のリリースとなった。前作の噛み合ったリフとタイトさを保ちつつ、そこへ交響的な要素とパワー・メタル的な高揚を丁寧に加え、楽曲の即効性を一段と高めている。ギターは硬く、リズムはタイトで、サビに入ると一気に開放感が広がる構成が全編を貫く。成熟した深みのある歌詞も、この時期のバンドの充実を裏付けている。 シングル“The Human Paradox”は劇的なメロディでアルバムの核を担い、“Untamer of Your Soul”“Roar of the Underdog”は疾走感と巨大なコーラスを両立させる。“Free Man's Anthem”“I Want to Live Forever”では、フックの強さと構築の妙が高い次元で結び付く。派手なサビを備えながらも、曲の骨格にはプログレッシヴな変化や細かなアレンジが息づき、即効性と聴き込みがいの両方を備えている。北欧メロディック・メタルの洗練と攻撃性をバランス良く味わえる、完成度の高い一枚である。

Titanic Mass is the fifth album, pushing further the modern sound established on the pivotal Renatus, and it became their final release for Spinefarm Records. Keeping the interlocking riffs and tightness of its predecessor, it carefully adds symphonic elements and a power-metal lift, heightening the immediacy of the songs. The guitars are firm and the rhythm tight, and a structure in which each chorus opens into a broad sense of release runs throughout. Mature, deeper lyrics also confirm the band's strength in this period. The single “The Human Paradox” anchors the album with its dramatic melody, while “Untamer of Your Soul” and “Roar of the Underdog” combine drive with huge choruses. On “Free Man's Anthem” and “I Want to Live Forever,” strong hooks meet clever construction at a high level. Despite its flashy choruses, progressive turns and detailed arrangement live beneath the surface, giving both instant impact and lasting replay value. It is a polished record that balances the refinement and attack of Scandinavian melodic metal.
