Humanicide

『Humanicide』は、ベイエリア・スラッシュの速度と緻密な展開を、現代的な重量感で研ぎ澄ました第9作だ。前作『The Evil Divide』に続き、フロリダのAudiohammer Studiosでジェイソン・スエコフと組んだ、4作連続となるコラボレーション作である。同じ5人の布陣が安定して継続し、攻撃性と成熟した楽曲構成を高い次元で両立させている。2019年にリリースされた本作は、バンドのキャリアで最もヘヴィな一枚の一つに数えられる。 冒頭を飾る表題曲“Humanicide”は、クラシックなメタルのイントロから激烈なスラッシュへとなだれ込む代表曲であり、グラミー賞の最優秀メタル・パフォーマンス部門にノミネートされた。疾走する“Divine Defector”、アコースティックな導入を持つ“Aggressor”まで、多彩な楽曲が並ぶ。“Ghost of Me”にはCHILDREN OF BODOMのアレキシ・ライホがゲスト参加している。バンドの現在地を刻んだ、力強い一枚である。“Immortal Behated”にはヴィカ・イェルモリェヴァのピアノ、“Revelation Song”にはスエコフ自身のギター・ソロがフィーチャーされている。

Humanicide is Death Angel's ninth album, honing the speed and intricate developments of Bay Area thrash with modern heaviness. Following the previous The Evil Divide, it is their fourth consecutive collaboration with Jason Suecof at Audiohammer Studios in Florida. With the same five-man lineup continuing steadily, it balances aggression and mature song construction at a high level. Released in 2019, it ranks among the heaviest records of the band's career. The opening title track "Humanicide," a signature song that cascades from a classic-metal intro into fierce thrash, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. From the racing "Divine Defector" to "Aggressor," with its acoustic intro, varied songs line up. "Ghost of Me" features a guest appearance by Children of Bodom's Alexi Laiho. A powerful album carving the band's present. "Immortal Behated" features piano by Vika Yermolyeva, and "Revelation Song" a guitar solo by Suecof himself.
