『Moment』は、DARK TRANQUILLITYが持つメロディック・デス・メタルの核、すなわち鋭いギター、冷たい鍵盤、内省的な歌詞世界を、しなやかな流れの中でまとめ上げた作品だ。長年バンドを支えたギタリストの脱退を経て新たなギター陣を迎えた編成のもと、ミカエル・スタンネのグロウルは激しさを保ちながらも、曲の哀愁を伝える語り手として機能している。攻撃性と繊細さのどちらかを選ぶのではなく、両方を同じ景色の中に置く姿勢が全編を貫いている。 “Phantom Days”“Transient”“Eyes of the World”“The Dark Unbroken”といった楽曲では、速い場面でも空間が窮屈にならず、シンセサイザーの層が夜の都市のような奥行きを作り出す。“Remain in the Unknown”“Standstill”“Ego Deception”“Empires Lost to Time”といった楽曲でも、疾走感と旋律美が滑らかに結び付き、随所に印象的なフックが配されている。“Identical to None”“In Truth Divided”では、旋律の陰影と沈んだ叙情が丁寧に描かれる。編成の変化を経てもバンドの美学は少しも揺らがず、むしろ新鮮な活力を得て成熟を示した、冷たい叙情と旋律美が交差する新章の始まりを鮮やかに告げる充実作だ。

Moment is an album on which DARK TRANQUILLITY brought together the core of its melodic death metal — sharp guitars, cold keyboards and an introspective lyrical world — within a supple flow. Under a lineup that welcomed new guitarists following the departure of a long-serving member, Mikael Stanne’s growl keeps its ferocity while functioning as a narrator conveying each song’s sorrow. A stance that places both aggression and delicacy within the same scene, rather than choosing one, runs throughout. On “Phantom Days,” “Transient,” “Eyes of the World” and “The Dark Unbroken,” the space never feels cramped even in fast passages, as layers of synthesizer create a depth like a city at night. On “Remain in the Unknown,” “Standstill,” “Ego Deception” and “Empires Lost to Time” too, drive and melodic beauty link smoothly, with striking hooks placed throughout. On “Identical to None” and “In Truth Divided,” the shadow of the melody and a sunken lyricism are carefully drawn. Through the change of lineup the band’s aesthetics do not waver in the least; if anything the record shows a maturity charged with fresh vitality, vividly announcing the start of a new chapter where cold lyricism and melodic beauty intersect.
