『Blooddrunk』は、CHILDREN OF BODOMがアレキシ・ライホの鋭いギターとヤンネ・ウィルマンの鍵盤を、より重く攻撃的な曲へ結び付けた作品だ。高速のリフとキャッチーな旋律が同時に走り、バンド特有の冷たい疾走感を作り出している。前作のモダンな路線に、初期の激しさを再び取り入れた一枚である。 “Hellhounds on My Trail”“Blooddrunk”“Smile Pretty for the Devil”といった楽曲では、荒々しいヴォーカルの下でも、曲には明確なフックと技巧的な掛け合いがある。“One Day You Will Cry”“Tie My Rope”“Roadkill Morning”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。“LoBodomy”“Done with Everything, Die for Nothing”“Banned from Heaven”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。アレキシ・ライホのギター・ワークはこの時期ますます円熟味を増しており、前作のモダンなヘヴィネスと初期のメロディックな要素が高い次元で融合した、円熟期を代表する充実作である。メロディック・デスとネオクラシカルな要素を、強いテンションで混ぜ合わせている。攻撃性とメロディの両立を追求した、充実した一枚である。

Blooddrunk is a work on which CHILDREN OF BODOM bound Alexi Laiho’s sharp guitar and Janne Wirman’s keyboards to heavier, more aggressive songs. High-speed riffs and catchy melody run at once, creating the band’s characteristic cold drive. It is a record that reintroduced the early ferocity into the modern direction of the previous album. On “Hellhounds on My Trail,” “Blooddrunk” and “Smile Pretty for the Devil,” even beneath the rough vocals, the songs have clear hooks and technical interplay. Songs like “One Day You Will Cry,” “Tie My Rope” and “Roadkill Morning” breathe the band’s full playing too. They mix melodic death and neoclassical elements at a strong tension. Pursuing the balance of aggression and melody, it is a full record.
