『Time Bomb』は、BUCKCHERRYの荒いロックンロール感を保ちながら、よりタイトで都会的なフックを目指した第2作だ。ジョシュ・トッドのしゃがれた歌と、ストリート感のあるリフが曲を強く引っ張っている。デビュー作の成功を受けて、バンドはより攻撃的で挑発的な表現へと踏み込んでいる。 “Frontside”“Ridin'”“Time Bomb”“Porno Star”といった楽曲では、パンク的なスピード感とグラム・ロック由来の色気が混ざり合っている。“Place in the Sun”“Slit My Wrists”“Slammin'”のような楽曲にも、バンドの荒々しいエネルギーが息づいている。“Helpless”“Underneath”“Fall”のような楽曲にも、バンドの荒々しいエネルギーが息づいている。本作はデビュー作ほどの商業的成功には至らずこの後バンドはメンバー・チェンジと活動休止を経験することになるが、その攻撃的でストリート感あふれるサウンドは後の復活を支える確かな土台となった。派手な装飾よりも、リフと声のぶつかり合いを楽しむための一枚である。しかし本作の後、バンドは一度解散の危機を迎えることとなった。初期BUCKCHERRYの勢いを鮮烈に刻んだ、力強い一枚だ。

Time Bomb is the second album on which BUCKCHERRY aimed for tighter, more urban hooks while keeping their rough rock ’n’ roll feel. Josh Todd’s hoarse singing and street-flavored riffs pull the songs strongly. In the wake of the debut’s success, the band steps into a more aggressive, provocative expression. On “Frontside,” “Ridin',” “Time Bomb” and “Porno Star,” punk-like speed and glam-rock-derived sensuality mix. Songs like “Place in the Sun,” “Slit My Wrists” and “Slammin'” breathe the band’s raw energy too. It is a record for enjoying the collision of riffs and voice over any flashy ornament. But after this record, the band faced a breakup crisis for a time. Vividly carving the momentum of early BUCKCHERRY, it is a powerful record.
