METAL RESISTANCE

『METAL RESISTANCE』は、デビュー作の衝撃を一過性の現象で終わらせず、BABYMETALを国際的なメタル・アクトとして定着させた2ndアルバムである。2014年以降の海外フェス、ワールドツアー、異なる文化圏の観客との経験を吸収し、楽曲はより長く、重く、演奏的になった。可愛さと轟音の対比は残るが、それ以上にSU-METALの歌唱力、YUIMETALとMOAMETALの掛け合い、神バンドの演奏を一つの大きな物語へ統合している。タイトルが示す“抵抗”は、ジャンルの境界や先入観に対して自分たちの存在を貫く姿勢そのものだ。 “Road of Resistance”はDragonForceのSam TotmanとHerman Liが参加した疾走曲で、シンガロングによって国境を越える旗印となる。“KARATE”は重いブレイクダウンと身体的な振付を結び、“YAVA!”や“Syncopation”は変拍子や鋭いリフで緊張を作る。“Meta Taro”の民謡的な行進、“GJ!”と“Sis. Anger”のBLACK BABYMETAL曲、“No Rain, No Rainbow”の正統派バラードが振幅を広げる。終盤の“Tales of The Destinies”から“THE ONE”への流れはプログレッシヴな技巧と普遍的な団結を接続し、アルバムを巨大な舞台作品へ押し上げた。ウェンブリーや東京ドーム期を象徴する、飛躍と確立の作品である。

METAL RESISTANCE ensured that the shock of BABYMETAL’s debut would not remain a temporary phenomenon. Absorbing the experience of overseas festivals, world touring and audiences from different musical cultures, the second album became longer, heavier and more performance-driven. The contrast between cuteness and distortion remains, but the deeper achievement is the integration of SU-METAL’s increasingly powerful singing, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL’s exchanges, and the Kami Band’s musicianship into one large narrative. The “resistance” of the title describes the group’s determination to exist beyond genre boundaries and inherited assumptions. “Road of Resistance,” featuring DragonForce guitarists Sam Totman and Herman Li, becomes a borderless anthem through speed and massed voices. “KARATE” connects a crushing breakdown with physical choreography, while “YAVA!” and “Syncopation” create tension through sharp riffs and irregular movement. The folk-like march of “Meta Taro,” the BLACK BABYMETAL pairing of “GJ!” and “Sis. Anger,” and the traditional power ballad “No Rain, No Rainbow” widen the emotional range. The closing transition from the progressive “Tales of The Destinies” into the universal unity of “THE ONE” turns the album into a major theatrical statement. Closely associated with the Wembley and Tokyo Dome era, METAL RESISTANCE is the record on which breakthrough became lasting authority.
