Canada's Nickelback released their 11th studio album, Everything Under the Sun, worldwide on October 30. It is their first album for Virgin Music Group after two with BMG, and it runs twelve songs. In Japan, Universal Music issued it the same day as a 13-track SHM-CD (UICB-1039, 3,300 yen) with a bonus track only the Japanese edition carries, I Would Have Left You. Rattle the Cage, the advance single that came out with the album's announcement on July 14 and features guitarist John 5, went to No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

From BMG to Virgin Music Group — twelve songs, made after an extra year between albums

Nickelback are Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger and Daniel Adair. In the statement that came with the announcement on July 14, Chad Kroeger said the album holds every side of the band, from songs as heavy as anything they have made to songs that take risks and songs that recall why the four of them are still together. According to the label, the title points to the whole range the band is known for: arena anthems, reflective songs, melodies and heavy guitars.

Mike Kroeger, the band's bassist, told the radio show Loudwire Nights on July 28 that they took an extra year between albums this time, having seen during COVID that fans responded well when the band stepped away for a while. Rattle the Cage grew from a demo idea that had sat on a hard drive for a long time, and John 5 was approached because the two camps share a lot of friends.

Between Get Rollin' (2022) and this album came the live album Live From Nashville (November 15, 2024, BMG), recorded at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in August 2023. Classic Rock's review, published on Louder on October 29, gives the album four stars out of five.

The Japanese edition: an SHM-CD, with I Would Have Left You as track 13

The Japanese edition (UICB-1039, Universal Music) is a single SHM-CD at 3,300 yen including tax. After the twelve songs it adds I Would Have Left You, a bonus track only the Japanese edition carries, and it comes with liner notes and translated lyrics. Abroad, the album came out the same day on CD and vinyl, with a cassette among the editions sold only through the band's own store.

Four songs ahead of the album — Rattle the Cage became the band's ninth No. 1

The first of them was Bones for the Crows, written in 2023 for the video game Dungeon Hunter 6 and used in its advertising. In April 2026 it was chosen as the theme song of WWE's WrestleMania 42, given a digital release, and entered Billboard Canada's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart at No. 21.

Rattle the Cage, out on July 14, features John 5, Mötley Crüe's touring guitarist since 2022. It reached No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart dated September 26: Nickelback's ninth leader on that chart and their first since Edge of a Revolution in 2014. Billboard notes it is also John 5's first No. 1 in a billed role.

Leave Me Behind followed on August 21 and Make Me Love You on September 24, premiered on BBC Radio 2, and both have music videos. Chad Kroeger has described Leave Me Behind as a song about helping carry what has broken someone, set against the fear of being left behind.

The 2027 world tour — no Asian dates among those announced

A world tour named after the album was announced on October 9. The North American leg runs from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on February 6, 2027 to San Antonio on May 1, with Mexico City on May 7; Europe follows from Leeds on May 22 to Copenhagen on July 13, and Australia from Perth on October 2, with Don Broco as support on most dates. No Asian date is among those announced.
