Megadeth's Farewell Japan Shows Sell Out — A Second Budokan Night On February 25
On October 1 the promoter Udo Artists announced an extra date on what it bills as Megadeth's last Japan tour. The farewell tour's Japan leg had been announced in August as two shows in February 2027 — Grand Cube Osaka on the 22nd and the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on the 24th — and both sold out on the day. A second Budokan night has now been added for Thursday, February 25, making three shows in all and two nights at the Budokan. Presale for the new date opens at noon on October 3 for Udo Premium Members, S seats on a first-come basis.
The added show: Nippon Budokan, February 25, doors 18:00
The added show is on Thursday, February 25, 2027 at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. Udo's show page gives doors at 18:00 and a 19:00 start, the same as the two dates announced before it. Tickets are 18,000 yen for S seats and 17,000 yen for A seats, tax included, also unchanged.
The Udo Premium Members presale (S seats, first come first served) runs from 12:00 on Saturday, October 3 to 18:00 on Friday, October 9, with one application of up to two tickets per person per show; the Udo Members presale (S seats, first come first served) runs from 12:00 on Monday, October 5 to 18:00 on Friday, October 23, up to four tickets per show. General sale opens at 10:00 on Saturday, October 24 through Udo Members, Ticket Pia, e+ and Lawson Ticket, among others.
Two VIP packages are offered as well: a VIP Photo Package at 108,000 yen, which adds a photo with the band to an S seat ticket, and a VIP Goods Package at 50,000 yen with VIP-only merchandise. Both are sold and handled through their own site, not by Udo.
Three shows in all — one night in Osaka, two at the Budokan
With the new date the tour runs to three shows: Monday, February 22 at Grand Cube Osaka, Wednesday, February 24 at the Nippon Budokan, and Thursday, February 25 at the Nippon Budokan. All three open at 18:00 and start at 19:00, and the first two are already sold out.
The Osaka show is presented by FM COCOLO and FM802 and the two Tokyo shows by BAYFM78, with cooperation from Ward Records; Udo Artists invites and produces the tour. It is the band's first visit to Japan since 2023 and, by Sports Hochi's count, their seventeenth.
The Budokan: cancelled in 1993, first played in 2023, two nights at the end
The Budokan is a venue Megadeth waited a long time to play. A Japan tour booked for March 1993, with a show there, was cancelled for Dave Mustaine's health. The band finally played the hall thirty years later, on February 27, 2023, with former guitarist Marty Friedman joining them as a guest.
This tour is part of the farewell world tour behind Megadeth, the band's seventeenth and final studio album, released on January 23, 2026, and the band is still out on that tour. According to Billboard the album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 — their first chart-topper since they first reached the chart in 1986. Their previous best had been No. 2, with 1992's Countdown to Extinction.
The album was made by Mustaine with bassist James LoMenzo, drummer Dirk Verbeuren and guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari.
