Liner Notes
Vacant Throne introduces Zilqy with a clear sense of purpose, turning the idea of a global all-female metal band from Japan into a compact but forceful debut EP. Anna’s bilingual voice moves between open, expressive lines and sharper moments of pressure, while Toki’s guitar, Miho’s bass and Kano’s drums build a heavy, keen framework. The sound carries nu-metal and metalcore textures, yet a distinctly Japanese melodic strength remains in the shape of the vocals.
The opening “Carry On” works as an anthem with a strong hook, “Disguise” and “Bleeding Love” deepen darker emotion and modern groove, and “Cannonball” pushes forward with the most physical, stage-ready energy on the record. The closing “Realize” ends on a brighter sense of release, showing that the band’s ambition is expansive as well as aggressive. Reconnecting the members’ backgrounds under a new name, it is a first step toward the empty throne of its title — already showing enough character to make Zilqy more than a one-off.
