LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
David Coverdale joined the third line-up of Deep Purple in 1973. Fifty years on from that, the 2015 album The Purple Album was rebuilt as a three-disc set. The album itself is Coverdale going back to the songs he sang in Purple and recording them again under the Whitesnake name. Here it returns newly remixed and remastered, so "Burn", "Stormbringer", "Mistreated" and "Soldier of Fortune" all arrive in a different sound from the one people know. The second disc adds live recordings from the Purple Tour, alternative mixes -- the Unzipped "Holy Man", the Punch in the Nuts mix of "Stormbringer" -- and something genuinely remarkable: the previously unreleased tape Coverdale recorded in 1972 for his Deep Purple audition. "Everybody's Talkin'", "Get Ready", "Lonely Town, Lonely Street" and "Dancing in the Street", followed by the demos and ideas he put together in 1974 for the Stormbringer album. The Blu-ray holds Purple-era music videos, the Purplesnake films, live clips, footage from the Purple Tour and both the behind-the-scenes and song-by-song documentaries. Only the Japanese edition is pressed on SHM-CD, and its interview footage carries Japanese subtitles. Warner Music Japan released it on 13 October 2023 as WPZR-30973. Fifty-two items.
