The Wake came out on 21 September 2018 on Century Media, with Avalon issuing the Japanese edition on 26 September as MICP-90108.
It is a concept album, and drummer Away drew the sleeve. It is also the first studio record with bassist Dominique "Rocky" Laroche, who took over from Jean-Yves "Blacky" Theriault in 2014. Francis Perron recorded and mixed it at RadicArt Recording Studio in Canada.
Eight songs run to fifty-six minutes, and the closing "Sonic Mycelium" passes twelve. Three songs went out ahead of it: "Obsolete Beings" on 20 July 2018, "Always Moving" on 31 August and "Iconspiracy" on 14 September.
Commercially it went further than anything else the band have made, entering the charts at number 26 in Germany, 51 in Switzerland, 94 in Wallonia and 32 in Hungary, and reaching number 8 on the American new-artist chart and 148 overall. It won the Juno award for Metal/Hard Music Album of 2019. The eight listed here are the standard pressing's; the deluxe and Japanese editions add a second disc of 2018 live recordings, and the player on this page is that deluxe fourteen-track version.
