LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the only Voivod album to enter the Billboard 200, where it reached number 114. It was recorded at Victor Studio in Montreal in 1989, produced by Glen Robinson and Steve Sinclair, and released by Mechanic/MCA in North America and Noise in Germany.
The line-up is still Snake, Piggy, Blacky and Away. The turn towards progressive writing that began with Killing Technology goes furthest here: the thrash speed recedes and the chords and the structures come forward.
The third track is Pink Floyd's "Astronomy Domine", which got airplay on MTV's Headbangers Ball, and some of the riffing comes out of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. That nobody could say quickly where this belonged among the metal of 1989 describes the record's position well. The running order here is the original's as printed.
