LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Angel Rat came out in 1991 on Mechanic and MCA Records, with Victor issuing the Japanese edition on 25 November as MVCM-106. Sources disagree on the release day.
Terry Brown, known for his work with Rush, produced it, Steve Sinclair was executive producer, and it was recorded at Metalworks Studios in Toronto. It moves on from the progressive metal of Nothingface towards a more alternative, psychedelic kind of rock.
Bassist Jean-Yves "Blacky" Theriault left before it was released; he came back in 2008 and left again in 2014. Ray Coburn plays keyboards, and Ivan Doroschuk of Men Without Hats added keyboards to the ninth song. A video was made for the third, "Clouds in My House".
It came out on a major label and the reviews were mixed; it did not sell like Nothingface. Its standing has grown since, and it now has a devoted following of its own. The running order here is the original's as printed.
