Negatron came out on 21 November 1995 on Hypnotic Records worldwide and on Mausoleum Records in America. Canyon International issued the Japanese edition as PCCY-00833, which runs to thirteen tracks.
Snake left the band for a time in 1994, and this is the first album with the new bassist Eric Forrest also singing. It moves away from the progressive writing of the records before it and puts industrial hardness and death-metal growls forward instead.
It was recorded at the Hypnotic studio in Toronto, produced by Daryn Barry, Alfio Annibalini and the band, and mastered by Eddy Schreyer. Forrest plays bass and sings, Piggy plays guitar and effects, and Away plays drums and percussion and drew the sleeve. JG Thirlwell of Foetus sings on the closing "D.N.A. (Don't No Anything)".
The CD included multimedia tracks in CD-ROM form, which was a novelty then, and a limited edition of 750 came in a tin box. Eleven songs are listed here; the player on this page is a ten-track version without "Drift".
