LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Despite its title, Werewolves of London was not recorded in London: it is UFO at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton, England, on 10 February 1998, one night of the reunited band's world tour that year. Founding members Phil Mogg and Pete Way were joined by Michael Schenker, back on guitar for what proved a temporary return, and by Paul Raymond, the band's long-serving rhythm guitarist and keyboard player, with former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright behind the kit as a support player. The same five had stood together on stage in Buffalo, New York, in 1995. The fifteen songs, split across two discs and running about an hour and twenty-three minutes, range widely across the band's history. "Natural Thing" from No Heavy Petting opens the show; "Mother Mary", "This Kid's" and "Out in the Street" come from Force It, "One More for the Rodeo" and "Only You Can Rock Me" from Obsession, and "Electric Phase", "Love to Love", "Too Hot to Handle" and "Lights Out" from Lights Out. From Walk on Water, the 1995 album that marked the reunion, they play "A Self Made Man", "Venus" and "Pushed to the Limit". Phenomenon's "Doctor Doctor" and a "Rock Bottom" of more than eleven minutes bring it to a close. Cleopatra Records released the concert on two CDs in a digipak in February 2023, and vinyl followed the same year; the band's own website pointed its visitors to that vinyl reissue. In May 2026 Cleopatra reissued the double CD in a jewel case (CLO7295CD). In Japan an edition for domestic distribution with an obi strip (CLO7295CDJ) followed in June 2026, and Marquee Inc. issued a Japanese edition of its own on two SHM-CDs (MICP-30233/4) in July.
