Liner Notes
You Can’t Stop Rock ’n’ Roll is the second album, on which Twisted Sister, building on the solid reception of their debut, signed to Atlantic. Welcomed to a major label after their UK success, it keeps the same rough heavy metal direction while raising the level of writing and performance. Dee Snider’s confrontational voice, crowd-built choruses and club-forged toughness run throughout.
The title track, an early MTV video, the march-driven “The Kids Are Back” and the self-assertive “I Am (I'm Me)” all became singles and widened the band’s name. Apart from “You're Not Alone (Suzette's Song),” a ballad Snider wrote for his wife, songs like “Like a Knife in the Back,” “Ride to Live, Live to Ride” and “I'll Take You Alive” are almost entirely hard heavy metal. Snider wrote every track, and the album was later certified gold in the US. It captures raw momentum and rebellious rock and roll just before the breakthrough.
