TRiDENT Biography

Biography

TRiDENT is a Japanese three-piece women’s rock band featuring ASAKA on vocals and guitar, SERINA on bass and chorus, and NAGISA on drums. The group developed from the Osaka-based Girls Rock Band Kakumei and restarted under the TRiDENT name on May 1, 2020. Its sound condenses sharp guitar riffs, melodic bass movement, highly mobile drumming and a powerful clear vocal into the density of three players, crossing hard rock, alternative metal, loud rock and an accessible pop instinct.

The first full album under the new name, ADVANCE GENERATION, arrived in March 2021. During the same year, the trio released Saikousou, which rebuilt songs from its earlier history, and the paired UNDER GROUND and OVER GROUND EPs, quickly establishing a distinct identity. In June 2021 the band also released TRiDENT 1ST LIVE DVD EPISODE 0-the return of us-, a DVD of its first headline show, played at Zepp Haneda on December 15, 2020. Saikousou II and D-X followed in 2022, balancing historical continuity through re-recording with forward motion through new material. Songs such as “CRY OUT” and “Signal” became central examples of the band’s ability to connect heavy physical playing with large melodic hooks.

Dream Up in 2023 framed ambition as practical action through “KICKASS,” “Repaint” and “NEO FUTURE.” The 2024 EP spice “X” expanded the palette with nocturnal and intimate shades, and the second full album DUX reorganized the recent catalog into a twelve-track statement. In September 2024 the band also released the two-disc live Blu-ray TRiDENT Dream Up TOUR at Zepp Shinjuku, recorded at the final of the TRiDENT Dream Up TOUR on February 12, 2024. TRiDENT’s arrangements allow every part to remain clearly audible while the choruses create the scale of a much larger ensemble, an approach that has become especially effective in live performance in Japan and overseas.

TRiDENT made its major-label debut through King Records in 2025 and released BLUE DAWN. Tracks including “Reimei no Uta” and “NEW ERA” retain the attack of the independent period while opening the melody toward a broader audience. The band’s defining strength is not simply that it is an all-female act, but that it turns the apparent limitation of a three-piece lineup into clarity, momentum and identity. By continually rebuilding its history while opening a path toward a new era, TRiDENT occupies a distinctive position in contemporary Japanese hard rock and loud rock.

In 2026 the band played a two-man show with SILENT SIREN at Shibuya Spotify O-WEST on July 20 (King of the Sea Tour 2026) and, on August 22 and 23, the TRY ME TOUR 2026 with Bray me at America-mura DROP in Osaka and Ina GRAMHOUSE in Nagano, both dates sold out. It was the guest act on the co-bill tour hosted by Yuyami ni Izanaishi Shikkoku no Angel at Shibuya Spotify O-WEST on September 12, and played the men-only event Oji Matsuri 2026 at Daikanyama SPACE ODD on September 22 and TRiDENT x NEK! pre. KYOZON at Daikanyama UNIT on October 3. Further dates were announced: NEMOPHILA’s first all-female co-headline event, shared with East Of Eden and NEK!, at EX THEATER ROPPONGI on October 12; Girl's UP!!! vol.421 at Shibuya eggman on October 22; WiTH, a two-band bill with Faulieu., at Daikanyama UNIT on November 4; and TRiDENT - Yeeet! TOUR 2027, the three-date release tour for the triple A-side single Yeeet!, opening at NAGOYA JAMMIN' on January 9, 2027, with OSAKA MUSE on January 16 and the final at LIQUIDROOM in Ebisu on February 13. The single itself was detailed on October 31: Yeeet!, with a release date of December 9, 2026 on Ward Records, holds "Good call" and "メイヒテンセイ", with words and music by ASAKA, the second written for a pachinko machine, and "Bloom", the first song with words and music by SERINA; its limited first edition adds a DVD with the making of the video for "メイヒテンセイ".

The Aesthetic of the Three-Piece Format

What characterizes TRiDENT is its deliberate commitment to the minimal three-piece format. With only three sounds—guitar, bass and drums—it does not fill the gaps but turns those very gaps into the contour and momentum of the sound. ASAKA's sharp guitar riffs and powerful, clear vocals; SERINA's melodically moving bass and chorus; NAGISA's highly mobile drumming—together they make the songs cohere at the density of just three players. The arrangements, in which every part remains clearly audible while the choruses create a unity that seems impossible for three, are proof of TRiDENT's high level of performance and construction.

The band name "TRiDENT," a three-pronged spear, symbolizes exactly this convergence of three forces into a single point. Rather than leaning on the frame of an "all-female band," the stance of turning the constraints of a three-piece into a weapon is what makes TRiDENT a distinctive presence in the contemporary Japanese hard rock scene.

Detailed Member Profiles

ASAKA (Vocal / Guitar) — The front of TRiDENT, a vocalist and guitarist. She single-handedly balances sharp riffs and powerful, clear singing, carrying the center of the band's sound and melody.

SERINA (Bass / Chorus) — With melodically moving bass and chorus she gives thickness and expanse to the three-piece sound image, radiating a presence worthy of a lead role even in the low end.

NAGISA (Drums) — With highly mobile drumming she carries the scene changes and propulsion of TRiDENT's songs, the rhythmic linchpin that powerfully supports the trio's ensemble.

Conclusion

TRiDENT is a three-piece all-female rock band that restarted in 2020 from the Osaka-based Girls Rock Band Kakumei. Balancing the inheritance of its past through "re-creation" (Saikousou) with forward motion through original songs, it stacked up numerous works in a short time and made its major-label debut on King Records in 2025. Its aesthetic of turning the constraint of the minimal three-piece format into the contour and momentum of the sound makes TRiDENT a distinctive presence in the contemporary Japanese hard rock and loud rock scene. Its course of opening a path toward a new era while rebuilding the past will continue.
