Scratch and Bite

LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Scratch and Bite is Treat's debut, on which they showed their starting point in melodic hard rock, with catchy melodies and a Nordic clarity. The band formed in Stockholm in 1981 as "The Boys," and, centered on Robert Ernlund's singing and Anders Wikström's guitar, they play flashy hard rock reminiscent of Kiss and Def Leppard. Spirited songs like "Too Wild," "Get You on the Run" and "Scratch and Bite" line up. The first single, "Too Wild," gained radio popularity in Sweden and took the local rock scene by surprise. Its momentum was such that Europe's Joey Tempest said he wrote a famous song in rivalry with "Too Wild." There are still rough edges, but the seeds of the later Treat's appeal — clear choruses and neat melodies — can be clearly heard. A record announcing the arrival of a new star of Nordic melodic hard rock. Treat would come to be counted, alongside Europe and 220 Volt, as one of the leading hard rock bands of 1980s Sweden.
