Fighting (SHM-CD)

Fighting is Universal Music Japan's reissue of Thin Lizzy's fifth album, from 1975, released alongside Nightlife as the third instalment of the label's Thin Lizzy card-sleeve series. It is the first album Phil Lynott produced himself and the one on which the band pushed further into hard rock; the ten album songs include "Rosalie", written by Bob Seger. Universal's notes give it as a number 60 record in Britain. The disc uses the original mix and adds eight related recordings, eighteen tracks in all: 7" mixes of "Rosalie" and "Wild One", the single B-side "Halfcaste", an alternate vocal of "Try a Little Harder", rough mixes of "Fighting My Way Back" and "Freedom Song", an extended take of "Leaving Town" and take 2 of "Suicide" as a monitor mix. Some of this overlaps with the seven-disc box 74-75: Night Life / Fighting of 2025, but here it is arranged around the album itself. The pressing matches its companion: a limited SHM-CD in a card sleeve reproducing the first British LP in miniature, with an obi modelled on the first Japanese LP and with sleeve notes, lyrics and translations. The label is Mercury, the catalogue number UICY-80649, and the release date 6 November 2026.
